About Us
manchester’s largest women’s social community - built for women, by women.
girlhood is manchester's go-to women's community - and it was built because four friends knew firsthand how hard it can be to find your people as an adult woman in a big city.
every week we host events across fitness, creativity, culture and lifestyle - from pilates classes and pottery workshops to supper clubs, book clubs, and everything in between. our events are designed to be welcoming, low-pressure, and genuinely fun. whether you're brand new to manchester, looking to expand your social circle, or just want an excuse to try something new, there's always something on for you.
what makes girlhood different is the community behind it. we're not a faceless events platform - we're four women who started this because we needed it ourselves, and who have watched it grow into something far bigger and more beautiful than we ever imagined. the women who come to our events aren't just attendees - they're regulars, friends, some of which have become our closest people.
we often keep our events small and always keep our spaces safe. every girlhood event is women-only, welcoming to anyone who identifies as a woman, and run by people who genuinely care about every single person who walks through the door.
this is what we wished had existed when we were finding our feet. and now it does.
come and find yours.

yes - most people come alone!
girlhood is designed for exactly that. whether you’ve just moved to the city, your friends are busy, or you simply want to meet new people, coming solo is completely normal here.
our events are set up to be welcoming and social from the start, so you won’t feel awkward or out of place- we make sure everyone is included.
a lot of the friendships that start at girlhood begin with someone showing up on their own!

most of our community are women aged 18-35, but there’s no strict age limit!!
